The Central Coast entered a team into
the annual Grade match Competition – and tooks second place in the under 2000
division.
Leading (by a point) at the halfway
stage (it was a double-round robin) they were outpaced by a much-improved second
half by St George team.
President leads from the front
Winner of this months fast-chess tournament – held on the 1st Saturday afternoon of each month, at the Central Coast Leagues Club was Club President Keith Farrell who had been leading 7 out of 8 but was almost caught by Paul Reynolds who finished on a perfect 4 from 4, but was not enough – First :Keith Farrell on 9 with Paul Reynolds on Second with 8 (both from 12 games played). This result places Keith on equal 1st in the local Grand Prix.
Coast beats Gosford
A recent ‘big board’ match between against Central Coast Leagues Club and players from Mingara; Toukley White Knights; Ettalong and the Senior Chess Club was scoring evenly till late into the night when the last three games fell mostly against Gosford (who only scored a half out of those three) – Final Score Gosford (CCLCCC) 5½ and the rest (other clubs) 8½, it was a very successful night played in the best of spirits.
